Background
I was born and grew up in Bangladesh.
I moved to Canada in 2014 to pursue my passion for RF systems and joined UBC for masters studies.
Since defending my thesis in 2016, I have been working in the space industry to develop complex sub-systems. Progressively, I have developed more and more passion for space technology and innovation.
Timeline of Experience
I prefer to present my journey from a fresh college graduate to my current role as a hardware test engineering professional. Here is a timeline of what I learned, how I learned it, and where I learned it:
- 2010-2013: Completed BSc from Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh.
- 2014-2016: Moved to Canada and completed MSc from the University of British Columbia. I am very grateful to mysupervisor Dr. Loic Markley his MERG research group for extraordinary mentorship.
- 2017-2019: Worked at Helios Wire as the lead RF Engineer. Left the company after it was acquired by Echostar.
- Moved to Vancouver from Kelowna.
- Learnt RF system design for cubesats.
- Learnt RF link budgetting.
- Learnt practical antenna design for space.
- Learnt about startup business challenges and practices.
- 2019-2020: Worked at Zen Maker Lab as a robotics instructor. I taught robotics to kids aged 8-12.
- Learnt prototyping simple electronics into product.
- Realized how difficult the job of a teacher is.
- 2019-2021: Worked for part-time as a consultant at Direct Kinetic Solutions .
- Learnt about various applications of isotropic power
- More practical link budgets.
- Learnt about proposal writing for US DOD.
- Learnt about cubesat EPS system design.
- 2020-2021: Worked at SMT Research as an intermediate RF Engineer.
- Learnt about construction iot for building health monitoring.
- Picked up RFID battery less sensor.
- Learnt hardware quality control for product release.
- Hands-on manufacturing of sensors and data loggers.
- Installed sensors in active construction site.
- Learnt PCB ordering through cheap manufactrurers in China.
- 2021-2023: Working at SpaceRyde as a Senior RF Specialist.
- Moved to Toronto from Vancouver.
- Advanced RF link budget calculations.
- Assembly, integration and testing (AIT) of rocket avionics hardware.
- Interfaced with ISED for RF regulatory licensing.
- Picked-up solidworks CAD works.
- Hands-on manufacturing of flight hardware.
- Developed a few PCB boards from design to assembly - shout out to dear colleague Jonathan Colucci.
- Picked up systems engineering practices.
- Attempted to implement environmental testing using MIL-810.
- 2022: Picked up HTML, CSS and JS through building this website.
- 2023: Got my basic drone pilot license for operating drones under 25 kg.
- 2023: Worked at Drone Delivery Canada as a UAV System Integration Engineer.
- Developed avionics hardware for an unmanned helicopter based on MOSA architecture.
- Implemented system engineering practices following ARP 4754.
- Received Safety Management Systems (SMS) training.
- Learnt streaming camera videos via an LTE modem (microhard BulletCATX) on jetson based linux.
- Worked on accessing Pixhawk 6c autopilot via Jetson Nano to monitor and control a drone.
- 2024-present: Worked at MDA Space as a RF Hardware Test Engineer.
- Moved to Montreal from Toronto.
- Developing test systems for testing satellite components in a production environment.
- And many more...
Publications
I've published the following papers during my undergrand and masters.
I'm avoiding writing the titles of the papers in this page because they are not quite in-line with my recent industry expeciences.
However, if you are interested, check out the summarized titles below followed by the publication links.
Achievements
My achievements include:
- Generic: Contributing to space exploration through my works in Helios Wire, SpaceRyde, and MDA Space.
- Patent: I was a part of a patent by SMT Research team which introduced a technique for automated roof health monitoring.
- Minor contribution alert: contributing to the field of electromagnetics through masters research publications.
